Elsie Louise James

Elsie Louise James was born August 8, 1940 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky to parents Ferguson James and Agnita Brown James. She was the third of ten children including eight Sisters and two Brothers. Elsie's Father: Ferguson James (1909 -1972) was born in Franklin, Kentucky to Elwood James and Alice Ferguson James. Elsie's Mother: Agnita Brown James (1914 -1959) was born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky to William Brown and Katie Simmons. 

Elsie attended Bond-Washington School until its closing in 1959. She graduated from Elizabethtown High School. She retired from Civil Service at Fort Knox Military Base after a long career there. In her later years Elsie resided near family in Franklin, Kentucky where she devoted her life to researching and writing the genealogy of the James and Brown Families. She passed from us at her home in Franklin September 28, 2025.

Penson of Chicago, Ill.  Jane E. Barnett of Franklin, Ky.Shirley A. Hartfield of Dallas, TX.  Nellie K. Everett of Houston TX.  Harriet F. McEachern of Kalamazoo, MI.  Loretta S. James of Indianapolis, IN.  Brothers John R. James of Elizabethtown, KY and Dr. Henry T. James of Saint Louis, MO.
