Gary Darnell Briggs, was born on November 14, 1954 in Franklin, Ky to the late Virgie Lee Holland Briggs and Robert Lee Briggs Jr. He departed this life on February 21, 2025.
Gary was a member of Elevated Missionary Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School, class of 1972. He was known as “Sly” to his classmates and close friends. He enjoyed listening to music, karaoke, skating, watching western movies, his favorite game show “Jeopardy”and playing checkers.
Gary dressed to impress due to his love of fashion. He had a smile that spread joy and positivity. Gary worked at Kendall in Franklin, Ky. He worked for Greyhound Corporation in Minnesota and for TMH Security Company in Detroit Michigan. He will be greatly missed.
Gary was preceded in death by his brother James Gordon Briggs, sister Carolyn Sharnell Hogan and his daughter Tabitha Briggs. He leaves to cherish his memory One brother; Troy Briggs (wife Dr. Katie Rainge Brigg, Sharnell, Zhanae and Troy Jr), One sister; Deborah Harris (Dennis Harris). Niece; Demetria Adams, Two daughters; Stacey Downey, Tonya Carver (Brianna Neblett, Corey Ferguson), Three sons; Brandon Carver (Wife Tabitha Carver, Tamara Terrell, Tianna, Taylen and Keelan Carver, Granddaughter Nalani Terrell), Brandon Bowman (David Odom, Joaquin Bowman), Cornelius Bowman (Aa’Lycia, Aaliyah, Avayah, Cornelius Jr and Hendrix Bowman). Aunts; Nancy, Flossie, Patricia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a devoted friend Alean Coleman.
