Johnnie L. Ray was born January 9, 1947 in Monterey, Ca. She left her earthly body, Sunday, May 19, 2024. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and friend. She was a faithful member of Loving Chapel Baptist Church. Johnnie Ray was born to the parents of the late Arvine Stone and Ethel Hopkins. She attended Seaside High School in Seaside, CA. She was a member of Fellowship Missionary Church in Seaside, CA before transferring membership to Loving Chapel in Franklin, KY. Johnnie Ray retired from the Simpson County School District as a high school librarian for over 20 years. There she provided unlimited advice and cared for her students. Many heard "pull your pants up" and "get that comb out your hair". She was also involved in various church activities and the Simpson County Homemakers. Johnnie enjoyed the outdoors and keeping her yard pristine. She moved to Atlanta, to be taken care of during those trying times, and have many people there missing her also. She is survived by her son, Sean Ray (Emily Hanson, mother of grandchildren) daughter, Diara Ray (Tomika Gibson-Ray, daughter-in-law). Siblings Henry Hopkins, Chloe Hopkins, Edith Hopkins, and David Hopkins. Grandchildren Monasia Ray, O'Shea Ray, Marquis Taylor, Montanna Ray and Tia Patterson. Great- grandchildren including Oliver, Adrianne and Owin Ray plus a host of nice nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Friday May 24, 2024 at Loving Chapel Baptist Church Franklin, Ky from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. The Funeral Service will follow starting at 1:00PM. Burial will be at Loving Chapel Cemetery
